Bragging about him moving back for her, and flashing a huge engagement ring, Condola tells Issa that she’s the winner before knocking back into a pile of trash. Getting food after seeing Crenshawn, Issa runs into Condola, who thanks her for delivering Lawrence back to her on a silver platter. They admit they don’t usually get personal with each other, but seem to have a connection. He tells her work can’t matter more than real life and if she needs anything he’s there for her. He’s shocked she’s been going through it alone and opens up about his brother going through cancer treatments during a case they worked on last year. That night, Molly apologizes to him and opens up about her mother’s stroke. Taurean manages to keep it together and they get through it. When he claims he’s done with the conversation, Nathan says he should shut his whining ass up, and Shug calls him crazy, telling him he should be more worried about being bipolar.Īt her work retreat, Molly and Taurean present their project “Hayward Forward” but Curtis is texting her and she’s worried it’s about her mom. Defensive AF, Shug complains that he brings in everyone famous and that no one complained about how he did things before Nathan started working at the shop. Nathan tells him they would have lost the customer if he didn’t and Resha claims he doesn’t pull weight around the shop. Telling her she needs to live with her decisions, Crenshawn shows her his new fashion line which focuses on integrity.īack at the barbershop, Shug is late again and refuses to pay rent because Nathan cut one of his client’s hair. Telling her she was more “concerned with your bag than my art.” Crenshawn admits that at first, he thought they were in the trenches together, but the way she treated him at the Nothing But Water event was fucked up. He asks her why she’s there and lays into her when she claims they both did wrong. Issa shows up at Crenshawn’s workspace with brownies and the reception is not friendly.
It belongs to Taurean, and a video proves she was dancing and twerking on him the night before. At breakfast, she endures some good-hearted ribbing about being drunk and she asks about the watch. After playing some games, they take shots and Molly wakes up incredibly hungover and with a man’s watch in her bed. Molly worries about her family at the work retreat but her coworkers draw her out and she starts to have fun with them. In Fairfax, Sequoia and Issa meet with the young Black Anthology Collective and invite them to the Blocc’s art walk, but The Anthology Collective doesn’t want to work with them because of what happened with Crenshawn.
Though Molly is worried and feeling guilty about not being there, Issa reassures her that her mother is stable and is going to get better, not worse. Molly facetime’s her from her work retreat and Issa reports no changes with Carol. Nathan decides to take one of Shug’s clients, even though he’s warned Shug won’t be happy about it.Īt the hospital, Issa passes out take-out food to Molly’s family in the waiting room. Though he brings the most famous people to the shop, Shug is continually late and his clients are angry about being stuck at the barbershop. In the barbershop, Nathan cuts hair while the barbers and Resha discuss Shug constantly being late. Laying together in the afterglow, Issa promises Nathan she’s wonderful but is clearly upset that he doesn’t have anything else to say. When Nathan says he loves the way she rides him, Issa starts to fish for the L word and is disappointed when he doesn’t tell her he loves her. Waking from her daydream, Issa checks Lawrence’s Insta feed and realizes he’s moved back to LA to be with his son and Condola. Suddenly, she shoots the baby like a basketball and shouts “fuck them kids” before kicking Condola in the chest and asking Lawrence if he wants some too. She tells Condola how adorable Elijah is and is happy to hold the baby, smiling down at him. Approaching them, she asks if they can all pretend like this isn’t weird – and they both agree. Issa steps out from behind the wall in the hospital and calls out for Condola and Lawrence to wait.
